Solma retires after serving SEMC for 39 years

In a Facebook post, Sleepy Eye Medical Center announced the retirement of longtime employee Carrie Solma:
Congratulations to Carrie Solma, Dietary Manager, on her retirement after 39 years! Yesterday was her last day at SEMC.
Carrie loved feeding patients and staff. She took pride in making meals that were safe, nutritious, and delicious. She was known to surprise employees with special treats over holidays, weekends, and long, exhausting days/nights during the COVID-19 pandemic. Little pick-me-ups here and there kept spirits afloat during some of our toughest days.
When it came to hospital and community happenings, Carrie was eager to assist with food, beverage, or catering needs. She added her special touch to various events including Santa’s Workshop, Paint the Town Pink, Spirit of Giving Gala, Toddler Group, Breastfeeding Support Group, Party in the Park, parades and much more.
Carrie also led the efforts of our Employee Wellness Team and worked with the committee to instill healthy habits/behaviors amongst staff. She played a significant role in the addition of our employee gym as well as the Sleepy Eye Bike Share Program.
Thank you Carrie, for your notable loyalty and dedication to our facility, patients, community and employees. We will miss you. Enjoy your much-deserved retirement!
