Sleepy Eye mourning loss of four young men

TIME: 8:18 p.m.

TYPE OF INCIDENT:  A 2003 Pontiac Grand AM, driven by Kansas Adams, 19, of Sleepy Eye lost control on icy roads while traveling southbound and entering a curve on Hwy. 14 just west of Sleepy Eye (near the Golf Course.) The vehicle entered the east bound lane and was broadsided by a 1999 Dodge Ram Truck driven by Douglas Wiborg, 43, of New Ulm

LOCATION: Hwy 14 West of Sleepy Eye  (“S” curve near Golf Course)

Kansas Adams, 19, Sleepy Eye (St. Mary’s High School Graduate), Driver 2003 Grand AM (Serious injuries)

John Mangen, 18, Fairfax (Sleepy Eye High School graduate), passenger Grand AM, Deceased

Caleb Quesenberry, 17, St. Peter (Springfield High School Student),  passenger Grand AM, Deceased

Payton Adams, 17, Sleepy Eye (a junior at St. Mary’s High School),  passenger Grand AM, Deceased

Tyler Hadley, 20, Sleepy Eye (Sleepy Eye High School Graduate),  passenger Grand AM, Deceased

Douglas Wiborg, 43, New Ulm, Driver 1999 Ram Truck, non-life threatening injuries

Sydney Wiborg, 7, New Ulm, passenger Ram Truck, non-life threatening injuries

Jakob Wiborg, 9, New Ulm passenger Ram Truck, non-life threatening injuries

RESPONDING AGENCIES: Sleepy Eye Ambulance Service, Sleepy Eye Police Dept., Sleepy Eye Fire Dept, Brown Co. Sheriff, State Patrol

UPDATES: According to one news source, Preliminary reports indicate back seat passengers in Grand AM were not wearing seat belts. Driver  and passengers in Ram Truck were wearing seatbelts.
