Prosecutors have charged Casey D. Narvaez, 39, with one count of 2nd-degree murder and one count of aiding suicide in connection with the woman’s death.
According to the criminal complaint, Narvaez also intended to take his own life Thursday, but called 911 and was rescued. Responders went to the boat landing on State Highway 4 in Ridgely Township around 1 a.m. Thursday after Narvaez called 911. He was found struggling to breathe with cables tied around his neck and was transported to the hospital.
A woman, with whom Narvaez said he’d been in a relationship for several months, was found dead inside a vehicle at the scene.
At the hospital, Narvaez allegedly admitted to making a “suicide agreement” with the woman.
Narvaez said the plan did not work and so they each instead made a ligature of cable ties to put around their necks. Narvaez admitted to helping the woman tighten her ligature because he wanted to help her die, charges state.
If convicted of murder, Narvaez could face up to 40 years in prison.
