The Sleepy Eye Chamber of Commerce held their annual meeting and dinner Thursday night at the Eagles Orchid Inn. Two unsuspecting individuals were pleasantly surprised when their named were read as recipients of prestigous volunteer honors.
Jenny Boettger was given the Shining Star Community Service Award while Joann Schmidt was named the Extraordinary Volunteer of the Year.
Also honored was Mark Kober with the Big Chief Award as the Chamber Ambassador attending the most events. Seven businesses received the “Business Gives” award including Spaeth Ford, Schutz Family Foods, Mathiowetz Construction, McCabes Ace Hardware, Herald Dispatch, KNUJ Radio and First Security Bank.
