Two felony theft charges were filed Oct. 23, 2023 against Lorin Lee Helget, 66, 24795 150th Street, Sleepy Eye. A first appearance Zoom hearing was set for 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023.
According to court documents, Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Bauer was dispatched to 24795 150th Street, Albin Township for a reported horse trailer theft at 9:04 a.m. Oct. 4, 2023. The complainant, Amber Ouellete, said her horse trailer, a maroon 1998 Sundowner Trail Duster, valued at $4,000; was last seen on the property at about 11 p.m. Oct. 3, 2023 and that Helget’s tractor was present.
At 11:31 a.m. Oct. 4, Brown County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Andrew Konechne, Deputies Justin Kitzberger and Bauer executed a search warrant and found the horse trailer in a machine shed on Helget’s property. Helget admitted he was upset and took the trailer the previous day.
