The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a “NO WAKE ZONE” restriction of 5 miles per hour on Lake Hanska due to rising water levels.
The “NO WAKE ZONE” restriction of 5 miles per hour was put into effect on Lake Hanska due to the current high water levels in an effort to prevent excessive shoreline damage and property along the shore.” The “NO WAKE ZONE” will expire after 30 days from June 22, 2024 or until the water levels return to normal.
No wake zones are declared in lake and rivers or water bodies near the shore. Any vessel operating in a speed zone posted as “Idle Speed – No Wake” must operate at the minimum speed that allows you to maintain steering and make headway.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office would also like to remind those who are enjoying spending time on the lakes and waters to always wear your life jackets.
