Marie Amelia Theissen was born April 17, 1917 to Hubert and Mathilda (Seifert) Theissen in New Ulm. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1935. After graduating, Marie went to train as a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis. She then worked for a short time at Loretto Hospital in New Ulm and then spent years taking care of her parents. On October 16, 1939, Marie was united in marriage to Paul G. Dauer at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Their union was blessed with five children, all of whom Marie dedicated her life to raising. In addition to raising her children and taking care of her parents, Marie was a past president of the St. Anne’s Society for 35 years, as well as a rosary leader at Oak Hills, Cathedral, and Divine Providence. In 2006, Marie and Paul relocated to Realife in New Ulm. In 2011, the couple moved to Divine Providence in Sleepy Eye. Paul passed away a couple years later and Marie resided there for the last twelve years. Marie will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Blessed be her memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Divine Providence in Sleepy Eye.
