Larry Krenz
Larry S. Krenz, age 75 of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, died on January 9, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, Minnesota. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel and will continue on Friday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:00 am. and will be livestreamed at https://www.trinitysleepyeye.
Larry Stuart Krenz, the son of Ferdinand and Betty (Adams) Krenz, was born on October 6, 1949, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. After graduating from Sleepy Eye High School, Larry was drafted in the United States Navy where he served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged and throughout his life, he was proud to be a veteran as he loved his country.
Larry married the love of his life, Kathryn Waldschmidt and they were blessed with two sons. They raised their family in Sleepy Eye. In addition to farming, Larry owned and operated Krenz Real Estate & Auctioneering, Inc. His love of auctioneering, combined with his hard work ethic and his willingness to make sacrifices, helped create a foundation for his family.
Being community-minded, Larry appreciated the relationships he made over the years and gave back whenever he could. Larry helped develop various community events including the Elves Christmas Village and local car shows. Larry also enjoyed participating in the local parades and serving on various committees at the Serviceman’s Club. Larry worked hard in the development of Veterans Park. He enjoyed sports, gardening and was always agreeable to assisting at local charity auction events. Larry cherished his family, and his unconditional love and empathy for family will be incredibly missed.
Larry is survived by his wife, Kathy Krenz; sons, Jeremy Krenz and Jeffrey Krenz; grandchildren, Dylan Krenz, Jonah Krenz, and Karmela Krenz; mother, Betty Krenz; brothers, Lynn (Joyce) Krenz, Keith (Lynette) Krenz, Ken (Jan) Krenz, Mark (Chandra) Krenz, and Rick (Patti) Krenz; brothers-in-law, Richard (Margaret) Waldschmidt, Robert (Patricia) Waldschmidt, John (Mary Jo) Waldschmidt, James Waldschmidt, and George Dualan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was greeted in heaven by his father, Ferdinand Krenz; brother, Patrick Krenz; father-in-law, Robert Waldschmidt; mother-in-law, Annallee Klueber Waldschmidt; brothers-in-law, Ronald Waldschmidt and Jerry Waldschmidt; sister-in-law, Suzanne Waldschmidt Dualan; and niece, Kim Marie Waldschmidt.
