Evelyn Mathiowetz

Evelyn Mathiowetz age 98, of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota died on December 27, 2022, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 31, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church-Sleepy Eye. Service will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church-Sleepy Eye, on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 11:00 am. The clergy will be Father Mark Steffl. Interment will be at the Japanese Martyrs Catholic Cemetery in Leavenworth. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. Evelyn the youngest of 7 children was born April 14, 1924 in Mulligan Township, Brown County to John & Barbara (Reminger) Mathiowetz. She grew up and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, graduating in 1943. Evelyn worked at A.J. Pietrus & Standard Co. and later at Farmers Elevator for 21 years working as a bookkeeper.

Evelyn is survived by nieces and nephews, Lawrence Sellner, Elaine Schueler, Br. Martin Sellner, Jerome Sellner, Ronald (Mary) Mathiowetz, Lucille (Charles) Moldaschel, Alice Wellman and Marge (Leonard) Seidl.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Louis, Fredolin, Florian; sisters, Sophie Sellner, Mary Poss, Louisa Groebner and special niece Lois Groebner.
