Community Education Update 3/24
ECFE classes have two sessions remaining in April on the 1st and 8th due to a weather cancelation in February. It has worked out having all ages in the same class this term.
An additional ECFE activity is planned for Friday, April 11, 6-7:30 p.m. in the Sleepy Eye School cafeteria. It is Daddy and Me night! Dads, grandfathers, uncles or big brothers can come and do projects with the preschool boy or girl. It is helpful to have signups in order to plan for supplies.
Preschool open house has been planned for Thursday, April 10, 4:30-6 p.m. Parents with children who will be 3 or 4 by September 1 are invited to attend to get updates on the 2025-2026 plans for Discovery Time and Voluntary PreK. Discovery Time is for three year olds and meets 78 days during the year. Voluntary PreK is for four year olds and they meet 140 days for the year.
There was not enough interest in visiting the National Eagle Center in Wabasha so it has been canceled. The next outing that is still open for participants is the Sidekick theatre show “Perfect Wedding” on Wednesday May 7. It includes noon lunch, the show and transportation. Registration is needed by April 21.
Suggestions and offerings for summer are needed by April 15 so a youth brochure can be prepared and distributed in early May. It will include the summer youth musical, swimming lesson times, a Twins baseball clinic, youth soccer camp at this time.
The community ed advisory board will be meeting on Thursday, April 10 at 4 p.m. in the Community Education office. Main focus will be preparing a budget for 2025-2026 as well as finalizing the summer program of activities.
The Community Education office is located in Room 109 of the Sleepy Eye High School. School day office hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., most weekdays.
