Community Education Update 3/19

One more opportunity is available for those wanting to spend a day at quilting class this winter/spring. It will be held on Saturday, March 22 beginning at 8 a.m. Attendees bring their own supplies, a sewing machine and a food item to share at noon. All skill levels are invited to participate.

Students at Sleepy Eye Public School will have Monday, March 24 off as staff attend a day of in-service.

Preschool open house has been planned for Tuesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. Parents with children who will be 3 or 4 by September 1 are invited to attend to get updates on the 2025-2026 plans for Discovery Time and Voluntary PreK. Discovery Time is for three year olds and meets 78 days during the year. Voluntary PreK is for four year olds and they meet 140 days for the year.

Defensive Driving class for those 55 and older will be held on Thursday, March 20 at 1 p.m. Next opportunity is on Tuesday, April 15 at 5 p.m. Attendance at the class every three years allows one to receive a ten percent discount on vehicle insurance during that time.

The scheduled outing to “Grease” at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre was very popular with a full bus planning to attend on April 2. A number of individuals have already indicated interest in the Sidekick theatre show “Perfect Wedding” on Wednesday May 7.

The Community Education office is located in Room 109 of the Sleepy Eye High School.  School day office hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., most weekdays.
