Community Education Update 1/27
The Father/Daughter dance is scheduled for Sunday February 9, 1-2:30 p.m. at the Sleepy Eye Event Center for children 3 years old to 3rd grade. Dads, grandfathers, uncles, big brothers or someone in the child’s life is invited to be escorts for the afternoon. Activities include a picture of each couple, dancing, refreshments and quality time together. Come dressed in your best attire.
Advance tickets are currently on sale for couples as well as an extra daughter. They can be ordered by phone through this office, mail or sending an order with a student. Tickets will also be sold at the door on the day of the event but will cost a bit more. Purchasing or reserving tickets in advance helps the committee plan space needs as well as supplies.
Early Childhood Screening will be held on Thursday, February 6 at the Sleepy Eye Elementary School. Please note the change of location. Sign up has been online with appointments scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You can also call this office for an appointment. A packet of forms will be provided prior to that day which need to be filled out and brought with to the appointment.
The winter-spring session of ECFE classes will begin on Tuesday, February 4, 4:30-6 p.m. All ages will attend this class which includes parent-child time, circle time and then a parent discussion while the children continue to explore activities in the classroom. Advance registration is appreciated but walk-ins are welcome. The class will meet in room 320.
Grandparents Day in ECFE has been very popular over the years and will be held on Saturday, February 15, 9-10:30 a.m. in Room 320. Sign up early so adequate supplies will be available. The morning is planned like an ECFE class with grandparent-child time, circle time and then separate for a grandparent discussion and continue play for the children.
The Community Ed Advisory Board will be meeting on Thursday, January 30, 4-5 p.m. in Room 109. The ECFE Advisory Board is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, February 19, 4-5 p.m. in Room 319.
Some outings have been planned including the Minnesota State Capitol on Thursday, March 13, ‘Grease” at the Chanhassen on Wednesday, April 2, National Eagle Center in Wabasha on Thursday, April 10 and “Perfect Wedding” at the Sidekick Theatre on Wednesday, May 7. Registrations have already been received for a number of the outings.
The Community Education office is located in Room 109 of the Sleepy Eye High School. School day office hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., most weekdays.
