The Sleepy Eye United golf team tied with Mounds Park Academy for the Class A state championship. Ben Laffen won the individual title as well, beating out his closet opponent by just one stroke.
The Sleepy Eye Boys Golf team dominated the field, winning the Section 2A championship by 50 strokes to advance to the state golf meet. This is the third consecutive section title the team has earned. The team placed third last year at the elite state competition and fourth in 2016.
Ben Laffen finished second overall in sections just one stroke off the winner’s pace.
The Sleepy Eye Boys Golf Team finished the 2017 State Golf Tournament as the third best team in the state with a two day total of 673. Individually, Ben Laffen placed fourth and Caleb Christensen 5th.

Junior Lauren Laffen, competing in her fourth consecutive State Golf Meet, was in third place following Day One results with a scores of 40 and 41. She finished the tournament tied for 9th with second day rounds of 42 and 45 (total 168). The winning score was 153.
Freshman Ben Laffen competed in his first State Golf Meet finishing tied for 24th. He played consistent golf carding scores of 41 and 40 on day one and 40-42 (163 total) on day two. The winning score was 146.
