Comment:
We had a new lineup today due to some injuries and absences which put us at a disadvantage against an already great team in Blue Earth. With people playing in spots that they were not accustomed to, we understood that it was going to be a battle but all we asked is that our players gave their best effort and they did not disappoint! Brissa Hernandez got our only team point with her victory at the First Singles spot in an epic second-set tiebreaker against a great player, Grace Hanson. I’d like to give a special shoutout to Tori Matter who made her varsity debut at the 4th Singles position. We will be using the same adjusted lineup in Marshall on Tuesday but hope to return to normalcy later in the week as injuries hopefully heal up!

Comment:
It was a tough day for our squad, but I’m really proud of the way Brissa Hernandez and Taylor Berkner stepped up with solid singles wins at the top of our lineup. Both played excellent tennis and kept us competitive throughout the match. Overall, we struggled to find our rhythm, and Luverne capitalized on their opportunities. We know there’s room for improvement, and the girls are determined to bounce back and continue working hard.
New Ulm Invite (9/14):
Tri-City United 20
New Ulm 13
River Valley 8
Redwood 7
Comment: The New Ulm Invite is always a fun one. Taylor Berkner went 2-1 on the day in the First Singles flight, only losing in a tiebreaker to Karlee Prahl from New Ulm, one of the region’s best singles competitors. Brissa Hernandez went 3-0 in the Second Singles flight to take first place and go home with a medal. Overall, I was very proud of how the girls competed. I think it was some of the best team tennis we have played even though the scorecards didn’t necessarily reflect that.
