Stacy Suzann Mathiowetz took her final leap to be in the arms of Jesus just two hours into Christmas Day on December 25, 2023, at the age of 37. She was at her parents’ home holding hands with her mom and dad. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel with the Rosary at 3:30 pm and Parish Prayers at 3:45 pm. Stacy Suzann Mathiowetz was born December 10, 1986, in the Sleepy Eye Hospital. She was the third child of Brian and Ronda Mathiowetz of Leavenworth, Minnesota.
At an early age in life, it was discovered that Stacy was indeed special and different. Discovery found that she had a deletion of her number 3 chromosome and that was a rare and mostly uncharted condition. Being a developmentally disabled child did not hold Stacy back in life. She began to attend the MSAB…The Academy for the Blind…in Faribault, Minnesota from the age of 5 until the age of 21. Essentially becoming a college student early, coming home for weekends and summers with her family. Graduating from MSAB in 2007, she began living at the first group home in Sleepy Eye. She lived in HOPE HOME with great housemates and caregivers for 16 years while spending her days at programming at Enterprise North in New Ulm and most weekends with her family.
Stacy was a social butterfly and got to many events and trips and outings. Though she was mute her entire life, she touched hearts with her loving presence and crooked little smile. Her favorite activities were Can-Am riding, boating, swimming, and being with her family.
She was a loving member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs Catholic Church community.
She is survived by her parents, Brian and Ronda Mathiowetz of Leavenworth, MN; siblings, Brett Mathiowetz of New Ulm, MN, Rachel (Brent) Kucera of Leavenworth, MN, and Chad (Cortnie) Mathiowetz of Leavenworth, MN; grandparent, Mary Lou Mathiowetz of Leavenworth, MN; MANY aunts and uncles; former sister-in-law, Lori Mathiowetz; and 11 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harold and Hazel Moll and Richard Mathiowetz; uncle, Leon Mathiowetz; and aunts, Janet Moll and Lila Hollmer.

Joyce D. Jobe, age 88, of New Ulm, died Sunday, December 24, 2023 at the Oak Hills Living Center.
Funeral Service will be at 11 am on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm, with Pastor Kathy Ulland-Klinkner officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Jobe of New Ulm; son, David (Kristi) Jobe of Thief River Falls; two grandchildren, Ashley (Jared) Schaefer and Kelby (Maree Poppenhagen) Jobe, who were the light of her life; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ervin Jobe; son, Dean Jobe; 4 brothers and their spouses; and 5 sisters and their spouses.
Joyce D. Radl was born on January 24, 1935 in Sleepy Eye to William & Anna (Reinke) Radl. She graduated from Sleepy Eye High School. After graduation Joyce moved to New Ulm and took a job at Kraft where she met Ervin. On March 29, 1958 Joyce was united in marriage to Ervin Jobe at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. After marriage Joyce stayed home for a few years to raise the couple’s children. She later took a job at B.F. Goodrich where she worked for about 20 years. Joyce enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and having coffee with friends. Above all else Joyce loved to spend time with her family they were her everything. Joyce will be deeply missed by her friends and family. Blessed be her memory.
Susan L. Heuchert, age 66 of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, died on December 15, 2023, at Sleepy Eye Medical Center. Susan “Sue” Lorraine (Anderson) Heuchert, the daughter of Lewis and Verna (Kerkhoff) Anderson, was born on November 27, 1957, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She was raised with her eight siblings in Morgan, Minnesota where she graduated eighth grade from St. Michael’s Catholic School in 1972 and Morgan High School in 1976. Sue completed a certification program in Accounting at Canby Vocational School in 1978. Sue began what would be a 45-year career in bookkeeping with C & S Grain Systems (formerly Case’s Sales and Service, Inc.) in Sleepy Eye in addition to working at Randy’s Family Drug and Gifts and Morgan Oil over the years. Additionally, she was a volunteer bookkeeper for her church.
Sue met the love of her life, L. Scott Heuchert, while in college and after reconnecting, they were married in New Ulm on July 7, 1984. Sue and Scott were blessed to be the parents of Angela, Daniel, and David, and they raised their family in Morgan. Being a mom suited her well as Sue spent many years volunteering in various activities her children participated in including Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts where she served as treasurer and merit badge counselor. Her dedication, and often behind-the-scenes efforts, to the Scout programs earned her the 2003 Spark Plug Award.
Sue had a deep faith in God and didn’t give much thought to coincidence as she saw the many ways God directed her life. She found peace and comfort in her faith and the promise of eternal life. She was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church in Springfield.
Family meant everything to Sue. Her trips to her happy place up north with Scott, where she loved kayaking and sitting on her lawn chair by the lake with a good book, brought her much contentment. She cherished being in the presence of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild who were her greatest joys on earth. Sue leaves her family with a legacy of unconditional love and the value of being together.

The thing that brought Sonya the most joy was being with her family. She enjoyed gatherings, holidays and any excuse to have everyone together. Sonya’s great joy was when all of her kids were together. She was pretty camera shy, never wanting her picture taken, but she was always taking pictures of everyone else and loved looking back on memories and reminiscing. Sonya was very sentimental and always preferred the personal touch of something handmade versus something store bought.

Mary Jane Veronica Hoffmann, the daughter of Arthur and Marion (Hillesheim) Sellner, was born on January 26, 1954, at the hospital in Sleepy Eye. She had four sisters and one brother. Mary Jane grew up on a dairy farm ten miles south of Sleepy Eye. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1972 and attended Saint Cloud State College for one year as she was planning on becoming a nurse. She met the love of her life, Martin “Marty” Hoffmann, and on August 20, 1975, they were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They enjoyed 48 years of life together.
Farm life perfectly fit Mary Jane’s personality and work ethic. She and Marty raised their six sons on the farm where she was an integral part of all that came with farming and milking cows. She also really enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables and baking delicious desserts to share. Her faith was very important to Mary Jane, and she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she volunteered her time in various ways. Following in her mom and grandma’s footsteps, she found peace and purpose in praying the rosary faithfully. She loved being able see the church steeple from their farm.
Mary Jane was passionate about helping others. She was selfless, easy to talk with, and caring to all around her. Family was most important to her, and she loved phone calls and attending her children and grandchildren’s activities. She was an absolutely wonderful grandma to her twelve grandchildren who always brought a smile to her face. Being a wife, mom, and grandma were the greatest blessings of Mary Jane’s life. Her kindness, strength, and beautiful smile will be greatly missed and cherished forever.

Steve Goblirsch, 73 of Rochester, MN died Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at his home, surrounded by family, after a brief battle with cancer.
Steve was born July 25, 1950 near Sleepy Eye, MN to Michael and Veronica (Forster) Goblirsch. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School on May 30, 1968. On June 20, 1981, Steve married Annette Jutz at the Church of St. Willibrord in Gibbon, MN.
Steve enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved taking walks with Annette and his dog Charlie, visiting with fellow walkers and dogs along the way. He also loved gazing at the sky day-or- night, or simply just watching his grandchildren play. He enjoyed cooking and grilling for others as well as watching MN sports.
Steve worked as a retail manager for various businesses including opening and managing the Office Max store in Rochester, MN for ten years. He enjoyed working with his employees and helping them with day to day tasks.
He is survived by his wife Annette, daughters Maria (Greg) Gazzillo of Eagan; Emily Goblirsch of Rochester; Laura (Richard) Budnar of Chaska. His grandchildren, Noah, and Olivia. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses, Carol Cibuzar of St. Paul; James of Sleepy Eye; Jerome of Eagle Lake; Joan Meyer of Big Springs, TX; Gary (Judy) of Bloomington; Charlene Forster of Sleepy Eye; Lindy (Dick) Schroepfer of Sleepy Eye; Roger of New Ulm; Susie (Ramy) Kral of Sleepy Eye; Mary Jo Hille and fiance Greg Gardner of Bloomington; Steve is also survived by his sister-in-law Dianna of Coon Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Joseph, Paul, and Michael, sister-in-laws: Jane, Lucy and Cathy, and brother-in-laws: Robert Cibuzar, Gilbert Forster, and Robert Hille.

Gilman E. Dahlberg, age 68 of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, died at his home on December 1, 2023, with the love of his life at his side after struggling with two rare conditions. Gilman Dahlberg, the son of William and Vera Dahlberg, was born on August 22, 1955, in Redwood Falls, MN. He grew up on the family farm in Redwood County and graduated from Redwood Falls Public School. On October 5, 1991, Gilman married his soul mate Connie Schultz in Sleepy Eye, MN.
Early on he started driving truck for KAT car transport. Along with farming, he owned and operated a sweet corn truck with Del Monte, hauled sugar beets, worked in construction, and drove truck for Sanborn Manufacturing. He worked for a few years at Kmart and Lakes Gas. His proudest work accomplishment was starting his own trucking company, GWD Trucking, which he took over the road and he was able to see much of the country. He carried on this love and passion for the open road for over 30 years until his health condition forced him to park his rig.
Gilman was most known for his wonderful sense of humor. He would lighten people up by dishing out compliments, telling stories, talking with anyone and everyone, and pulling pranks. He would get a kick out of getting reactions out of people.
Some of Gil’s other passions were spending time with family, especially the nieces, nephews and grand kids. He taught many of them how to live life to the fullest by driving hot rods, ATVs and mudding jeeps. Part of the fun was working on the vehicles and enhancing their performance! Gilman reminded us all to never take yourself too seriously, live life to the fullest by finding joy in the smallest of things, and to never forget how to see the world through the eyes of a child. While Gil wasn’t one to share his faith, he had a great love for Jesus and he showed this by loving all people.
Gilman is survived by his wife, Connie; son, Eric (Mari) Schultz; his grandchildren, Kevin Warwick, Ethan and MaciRae Schultz; guard cat, Sparky; brother, Douglas Dahlberg; sister, Donna (Jerry) Liebl; and many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen “Kathy” Marie Roberts, the daughter of Engelbert “E.A.” and Veronica “Fronie” (Trost) Wagner, was born on December 25, 1945, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She was raised in Sleepy Eye and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1963. On September 17, 1963, Kathy married the love of her life, Jack A. Roberts of Sleepy Eye. They were blessed with three children, Lori, Mark, and Jenny. Over the years, Kathy and Jack lived in Sleepy Eye, New Ulm, Montgomery, and most recently in Nevis. She was an active member of Lady of The Pines Church in Nevis, MN.
Throughout the years, Kathy worked at a variety of jobs, starting with Haas Bakery while in high school. After moving to the Nevis area, she enjoyed working in the housekeeping, laundry, and kitchen departments at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids. When she wasn’t working, Kathy enjoyed sharing stories with her family about her childhood. She talked fondly about going to work with her dad, who worked for Chicago and Northwestern railroads where she got to travel the countryside and blow the train whistle. Kathy was often found drinking coffee and visiting with friends. She loved being out in nature, traveling, and going on many camping trips. She was known by many for her delicious baking and cooking. What Kathy loved most of all, however, was being a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family dearly and cherished the time she spent with her beloved grandchildren.
Over the last few years, Kathy lived with dementia and in April of this year, she moved to Diamond Willow Assisted Living.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jack Roberts; children, Lori (Mike) Sanwick, Mark (Laarni) Roberts, and Jenny (Randy) Avenson; grandchildren, Nicole Hansen, Jacob (Autumn) Stueber, Kayla Stueber, Kenzie Stueber, Ashley (David) Buck, Josh (Angela) Roberts, Sara Roberts, Emily Avenson, Hunter Avenson, Paul Avenson and Kate Avenson; nine great-grandchildren with one on the way; and other loving relatives and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, E.A. and Fronie Wagner; brothers, James and her twin Patrick; stepsiblings, Raymond Wagner, Delores Klein, Mable Cunningham, and Arlene Zinae; and mother and father-in-law, William and Isabelle Roberts.
Catherine Sue (Hoffman) Wright, 47, of South Minneapolis passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on November 20th, 2023, at her home.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Our Lady of Peace Church located at 5426 12th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN.

Cathy was born November 9, 1976, to Paul and Eileen Hoffman (Drexler), in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She graduated from St Mary’s in Sleepy Eye MN in 1995 where she went on to attend Ridgeview Community College in Wilmer MN. After moving to Minneapolis, Cathy met and married Charles Noble Wright on October 28th, 2006. They settled in South Minneapolis where they were eager to start a family of their own. Cathy’s devoted and caring nature made motherhood come naturally. She and Charlie were blessed with three beautiful children, Nolan, Ellia and Paisley Wright.
Cathy worked for Children’s Hospitals of Minnesota as a Care Coordinator for the last 18 years. She enjoyed her job and loved her co-workers very much.
Cathy had a passion for people and a real zest for life. She was always up for a new adventure. Whether it be a road trip to a nearby water park/hotel with a crew of kids in tow, to parasailing in Mexico, going to Disney World with her family, white water rafting and concerts in Colorado with Charlie and best friends, or just enjoying summer days back at the lake with her family. Cathy truly enjoyed life and the company she kept. Her kind soul, quick wit and laughter permeated her surroundings wherever she landed. Her strength was admirable. Cathy will be missed dearly by all that knew her, but her memory will most certainly live on.
Cathy is survived by her Husband Charles, her son Nolan (15) and daughters Ellia (13) and Paisley (10) Wright of South Minneapolis. Her parents Paul and Eileen Hoffman of Sleepy Eye, MN. Her mother in-law and father in-law Daniel and Ginny Wright, of South Minneapolis. Six brothers and sisters Robin (Jodi) Hoffman, Jeff (Amy) Hoffman, Amy (Dave) Hengel, Becky (Jeff) Lux, Jenny (Paul) Vogel, Carl (Rachel) Hoffman, her Bother in-law Anthony Wright, as well as many nieces and nephews, God children, and extended family. Cathy was proceeded in death by her grandparents, Clem and Hilda Hoffman, John and Mildred Drexler, and brother-in-law Mark Weymann.
Elaine Marie Haala, 91, of Sleepy Eye was called home on November 24th, 2023. God came to her and said, Elaine your work on earth is done. The angels arrived to lead her through the gates of heaven where the love of her life “Larry” was waiting with open arms. Elaine was born on November 17th, 1932, at home on the farm in Comfrey, Minnesota to Edmund and Martha (Schroepfer) Windschitl. She was married on April 17th, 1950, to Larry Haala at the Church of Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth, Minnesota. Elaine and Larry were blessed with 5 children and raised them on the family farm in Stark township.
She was a farmer’s wife which came with many titles: Wife, Mother, Homemaker, Fieldworker and Cook. She loved cooking for her family especially sauerkraut and dumplings and baked the best smear kuchen.
Elaine was a member of the Christian Mothers and the Red Hat Ladies. Decorating was a true passion of hers and was proud to help transform St. Mary’s Church for the holidays. She had a deep connection to the nuns of Schoenstatt on the Lake and helped with many events there.
She worked as a CNA for many years at Divine Providence and the Sleepy Eye Hospital. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, gardening, music and singing, dancing to polka music, traveling, and fishing trips with friends. Most importantly she loved her children, and grandchildren. She looked forward to hosting family gatherings with Christmas being her favorite. She even taught a few grandkids how to drive a car on the country roads. Elaine and Larry started and ran “Haala Hobby Farm” a craft and woodworking business for many years.
She was the sunshine, storm, and rainbow and the ultimate story teller. Her love for her family ran deep and on and on forever. She would tell it like it is and move right on. Her hugs were meltable. She was kind, sweet, funny, and full of love. She was talented and did most things with a twinkle and a little attitude. Above all Elaine was devoted to her family, faith, St. Mary’s Church and Schoenstatt on the Lake.
Surviving family members are her children: Sandy Langbehn (Jerry Hortsch) Sauk Rapids, Chuck Haala (Lorrie) Mankato, JoAnn Woessner (Mark) Edina, Jon Haala (Sue) Manitowoc, WI; Grandchildren: Kirk Langbehn (Gretchen), Jason Langbehn (Tammy), Mandy Storlien (Mike), Jeff Haala (Kim), Shawn Haala (Joana), Angela Guse (Shawn), JoDee Hunter (Michael), Jennifer Blesi (Ryan), Jeremy Haala (Gina); Great Grandchildren: John, Alicia, Shirley, Ian Langbehn, Brittney Hafermann (Rob), Madelyn Langbehn, Marlo, Myra Storlien, Arya, Paxton Haala, Cecilia Haala, Beck, Kai, Ozi, Vonn Guse, Davion Sterner, Em Jae, Leo Hunter, Crosby, Cameron Blesi, Jensen, Lucy Haala; Great Great Grandchildren: Olivia Haferman; Sister: Sally (Windshitl) Holm; and Sister-in-Law: Lillian (Haala) Stimpert.
She is reunited with: Husband Larry and daughter Mary Beth Haala; Parents: Edmund and Martha (Schroepfer) Windschitl; Brothers: Edwin and Lenus Windschitl; Sisters: Irene (Windschitl) Sprenger, Adella (Windschitl) Schueneman, Margaret (Windschitl) Fischer; Grandson: Ryan Haala; Great Granddaughter: Jaeda Ann Guse; and Son-in-Law: John Langbehn.
Elaine will be greatly missed, but never forgotten!
