Sleepy Eye Baseball made the following announcement on their Facebook page Saturday evening:
This morning VP Brandon Streich assisted by President Aaron Nesvold road tripped to Buffalo, MN to present a bid to the Minnesota American Legion Baseball Committee to host the Minnesota American Legion Baseball Jr. Legion State Tournament in 2027.
After being in contention with two other sites, we were informed this evening Sleepy Eye Ballpark and the City of Sleepy Eye on behalf of the Sleepy Eye Baseball Association was awarded as host of the 2027 Jr. American Legion State Tournament!
This is a very exciting opportunity and we are grateful for the chance to showcase our ballpark and our beautiful city! This is a large undertaking, but we are looking forward to providing the best experience possible for all of those involved! We will be hosting teams from 7 cities from Districts throughout the entire state of Minnesota.
As anything else, it takes a village to make things work and we are looking forward to stepping up to the plate! It may be 3 years away, but the work begins now!

The Sleepy Eye School board made a difficult decision at their recent board meeting…the school’s new mascot will be the Storm. Sleepy Eye Schools was forced to remove the Indians mascot by the beginning of the 2025 school year due to a legislative order.
The Storm name won out over three other finalist including Phoenix, Bearcats and Bison. School colors will remain the same.
