On Sunday, February 25, the Miss Sleepy Eye Ambassadors and Candidates held their annual Sparkle Sunday, which included visiting the three nursing homes before hosting the 12th Annual Princess Party. The Miss Sleepy Eye Coronation will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 7:00 pm at the Sleepy Eye Event Center. Tickets can be purchased from one of the candidates or at the door
Fire prevention week is October 8-14.
The Sleepy Eye Fire Department will be hosting special evernts on October 11th to celebrate Fire Prevention Week. The night will begin at 5:30 with Operation EDITH. The fire trucks will be driving around town with their light flashing and the sirens sounding. This is a reminder for resident to have a fire escape. Please turn your outside lights on in support.
The Open House begins at 6 p.m. and continues until 8 p.m. It will include door prizes, food, and beverages. They will have fire extinguisher demos, a smoke house, and a car extrication.
This Year’s Theme: Cooking Safety Starts With You
The department will also be selling t-shirts for the “21 Project” which is a fundraising drive to help raise money to restore Sleepy Eye’s first fire truck, the 21 La France.
The Sleepy Eye Ambulance staff along with their family members gathered Wednesday night to leave their “Kindness in Chalk” message in front of their facility. The community is invited to show off their sidewalk artwork and submit photos to Sleepy Eye ONLINE (news@sleepyeyeonline.com)
