He was born Robert Walter Sellner in Springfield, Minnesota on August 29, 1937, and entered the Christian Brothers in 1955. He pronounced his perpetual vows in 1962. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Saint Mary’s College, a Master of Science at Seattle University and a Master of Education at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
Over the years in the Philippines, he served as a Chemistry Lecturer, Chemistry Teacher, Brother Animator and Supervisor of Science Teachers in Lab Work. He lived with the Brothers at the Brothers’ Community at De La Salle University in Manila.
He is survived by a sister, Elaine Schueler of Sleepy Eye, MN, and a brother, Jerome Sellner of New Ulm, MN, and his De La Salle Christian Brothers in the Midwest District and the Lasallian East Asian District, which includes the Philippines.
His funeral and burial took place in the Philippines.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 10:30 am at Hill-Murray School in Maplewood MN.
