Armond Dorschner

Armond Matthew Dorschner was born on March 22, 1929, to the late Wenzel and Mathilda (Moeller) Dorschner in Jackson County, Minnesota. He was baptized into the Catholic faith at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Jackson. Armond received his education at the Good Shepherd Catholic School.

Armond met the love of his life, Nancy Malchow, at the Checkerboard dance hall. They were united in marriage on December 30, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Armond and Nancy lived their life together on Nancy’s family farm, in Heron Lake Township. Their union was blessed with five children, LaDonna, Marie, Matthew, Debora, and Bradley.

Armond was a lifelong farmer, tending livestock and working the ground- growing crops for many years. Armond also worked as a carpenter for Ashley Leane. He enjoyed spending time each year in his abundant garden. He loved nature, casting a fishing line and ice fishing or getting to know the beautiful birds outside his window. Armond and Nancy had many memories dancing Polka together.

Armond Dorschner passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024, at Pine View Assisted Living in Windom, Minnesota.

Armond is survived by his children, LaDonna (Curtis) Hoffmann of Sleepy Eye, Marie (Charles) Holland of Marshall, Matthew (Marjean) Dorschner of Lakefield, Debora (friend Dean Lemickson) Dorschner of Windom, and Bradley (Tosha) Dorschner of Kalona, Iowa; grandchildren, Rashelle (Trent) Weicherding, Jason Hoffmann, Kyla Hoffmann, Lance (Emily) Dorschner, Amber (Henry) Ombongi, Shane (Sarah) Dorschner, and Kristyn (Jay) Zabel; great-grandchildren Gabrielle, Carrick, and Carly Hoffmann, Zada Turner, Elsie and Jorja Weicherding, Wyatt, Ellie, Gracelyn and Sarah Dorschner, Keyan, Tristan, and Cysen Ombongi, Riley, Kevin, and Alice Dorschner; sister, LaVonne of California; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Armond was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Nancy Dorschner; parents, Wenzel and Mathilda (Moeller) Dorschner; daughter-in-law, Julie Dorschner; and great-granddaughter, Ruby Lee Weicherding; brothers, Leonard, Alden, Wayne, Ivan, John, and Ken; sisters, Dorthy Pavelko, Alice Groshens, Ruthie Lutterman, and Marion Herrig; parents-in-law, Wilburt & Bernice Malchow.

A Celebration of Life Service for Armond Dorschner, age 95, of rural Lakefield, was held Monday, June 3, 2024, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield with Reverend David McDonald officiating. Burial was in Lakefield Cemetery.
