Alice Muriel Walden was born February 2, 1927 to Lawrence and Lydia (Hoppe) Walden in Sleepy Eye. She attended school in Sleepy Eye and began working. On May 12, 1946, Alice was united in marriage to James Vernard Roberts in South Sioux City, Nebraska. The couple relocated to New Ulm and Alice dedicated her life to raising and providing a home for her family. Alice’s life revolved around taking care of the people she loved. Whether it was raising her children, her parents when their health began to decline, taking care of her husband after he suffered a stroke, or taking care of stray animals in need of a meal, Alice did it all with a gentle and kind heart. She was also known for her cooking, baking, drawing, gardening, and food prepping. Alice especially enjoyed raising horses and going horseback riding in her younger years, as well as hosting gatherings and holidays for all her family and friends. Above all else, Alice loved all the time she was able to spend with her family over her 96 treasured years of life. She will be dearly missed by those that knew her. Blessed be her memory.
