Debra Gorres, age 69 of New Ulm was born into eternal life on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at her home in New Ulm, with her family by her side.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 am on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, and burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH chapel in New Ulm.

Deb is survived by her husband, Jim Gorres of New Ulm; daughters, Kelly Gorres (John May) of La Crosse, WI, Shannon Gorres (Mark Todd Wyant) of Lawrence, KS, Brittany Gorres-Martens (Josh Martens) of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Nathaniel and Rosalynn May, Coral Gorres-Wyant, Urijah and Raylin Martens; mother, Angela Augustin of Sleepy Eye; sister, Nancee (Dave) Riebel of Sleepy Eye; brothers, Brian (Kim) Augustin of Port Charlotte, FL, Brad (Deb) Augustin of the Augustin family farm in Mulligan Township, Kurt (Cathy) Augustin of Eagan; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Augustin; and sister, Diane Augustin.
Debra Kay Augustin was born on July 22, 1954 in Sleepy Eye to Robert and Angela (Goblirsch) Augustin. After graduating from Sleepy Eye Public High School, Deb attended Mankato State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Education. Debra married James Gorres on April 26, 1975 in Leavenworth, MN. This union blessed the couple with three daughters whom together they raised in New Ulm. Deb spent her career teaching at New Ulm Public Schools. Deb was a very active person. She enjoyed biking, swimming, playing pickleball, traveling, and being outside. She was courageous and resilient throughout her life. Her family was of utmost importance to her and many memories were made over the years. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Blessed be her memory.
