2023 Minnesota sesquicentennial, century farm recipients announced: Schumacher & Schwartz farms make list

Minnesota Farm Bureau recognizes farms in continuous family ownership for at least 100 and 150 years.

The Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) announced 43 recipients of the Sesquicentennial Farm award were named for 2023 on Friday, March 31, along with 89 farms named 2023 Century Farms.

To qualify for the Sesquicentennial award, a family farm must be in continuous family ownership for at least 150 years, be 50 acres or larger, and currently be involved in agricultural production, according to a Minnesota Farm Bureau news release. Qualifying Century Farms have been in continuous family ownership for at least 100 years and are 50 acres or more.

A commemorative certificate signed by Governor Tim Walz, Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen and MFBF President Dan Glessing will be awarded to qualifying families, along with an outdoor sign signifying Sesquicentennial Farm recognition.
