St. Mary’s students Landry Folkens and Charles Currans finished among the best at their age levels at the 51st Knights of Columbus State Free Throw Championship on March 29 at Osseo High School. Folkens placed third in the 14-year-old division, and Currans finished fourth in the 10-year-old division.
Both boys won their local contest in Sleepy Eye, the district contest in Sleepy Eye, and the region contest in New Ulm competing against other boys in their age group from southern Minnesota.

Each year about 2,500 girls and boys compete in over 100 local contests.  The state contestants must win the local, district and regional competitions to earn their spot at the state contest. Folkens and Currans are each one of the top 140 free throw shooters in Minnesota.
