The Sleepy Eye Public JV Softball team took 2nd at Tomahawk B-Squad Tournament this past weekend.
In the first game, the Indians defeated MVL by a score of 9-4, avenging a loss to them earlier this season. Bethany Seifert pitched the entire game giving up only 2 hits in the game. She also struck out 6 and walked 11. Jamie Wells led the Indians offensively going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. McKayla Ahlrich was 2 for 4 and Seifert was 2 for 2.
The Indians beat Springfield in the second game by a score of 7 to 3. Ahlrich pitched a complete game striking out 5 and allowed 7 hits with 3 walks. Kristin Sellner was 2 for 3 in the game and Wells was 3 for 3 leading the team offensively.
In a very close championship game, Sleepy Eye was defeated by New Ulm Cathedral with the final score of 6-5. Ahlrich pitched the game giving up 4 hits, struck out 9, and had 5 walks. She also led the team offensively going 2 for 2 with 2 RBI’s. Sellner was 2 for 4 and Steph Trevino was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI’s.
The Indians are now 9-5 on the season.
