The Sleepy Eye Officer Team for the 2012-2013 year gathered on Wednesday, July 25th, 2012 to prepare for the upcoming year. The officer team participated in multiple teamwork activities during the annual officer retreat. Topics discussed were the officer duties, on-going programs, the budget, fundraisers, FFA dues, chapter constitution, calendar of events, and Sleepy Eye FFA clothing.
The officer team set goals for the upcoming year. The Sleepy Eye FFA officers plan to promote increasing each active member’s amount of FFA activities by one throughout the upcoming year in order that more members become involved in the various FFA events. Also, the chapter officers want to increase membership in the Junior High program to 45 members by the end of the school year.
Community service is a big part of the FFA. The officers discussed and decided to keep all of their service projects for next year. These include: Safety/Ag. in the Classroom, Wee Deliver Writing Buddies (elementary pen pals), and Adopt-a-Senior with the local assisted living and nursing home facilities. The SE FFA Officer Team is going to look into a highway to adopt for roadside clean up as a new service project.
The Chapter members will be highly involved this summer with the community by doing activities such as Corn Days Farm Safety activities in the Park, safety activities at the Party in the Park, Kiddy Barn at the County fair, and Farm Fest. The team made sure all of these events are ready to go for the upcoming weeks.
At the end of the day, the officer team decided on the Sleepy Eye FFA Theme for the year, “Believe it. Achieve it.” In order to achieve, you must believe. There are countless opportunites to take advantage of through the FFA as well as many goals to achieve. If you believe in yourself, you can achieve at great levels.
The officer team for 2012-2013 consists of 12 positions: President (Brandon Roiger), Vice President (Matt Schroepfer), Student Advisors (Tia Cselovszki & Miranda McMullen), Secretary (Tiffany Ludewig), Treasurer (Jamie Fischer), Reporters (Jenna Soukup & Bethany Seifert), Historian (Katelyn Johnson), Sentinel (Samantha Krebsbach), Parliamentarian (Emily Kjelshus), and the Officer-at-Large (Ashley Johnson). Each officer has different duties and responsibilities to fulfill throughout the year and they all work as a team to conduct the activities of the Sleepy Eye FFA Chapter.
