During a flag raising ceremony, members of the Sleepy Eye Chapter officer team and two other members showed their American Pride by each stating a word that represents what America means to them, each word started with a letter in American Pride

Sleepy Eye FFA Members had the opportunity to slip away to Sibley State Park, north of Willmar, for Timberland Leadership Camp during June 4th through June 7th, 2012. Members who attended include: Brandon Roiger, Tia Cselovszki, Matt Schroepfer, Miranda McMullen, Karrah Remus, Jamie Fischer, Emily Kjelshus, Sam Krebsbach, Isaac Braun, Jenna Soukup, Stephanie Hammerschmidt, Okari Dominguez, Aylin Cetinkaya, Crystal Martinez, Derek Haala, Kari Schumacher, Kacie Goblirsch, Ashley Helget, Kari Schumacher, Bethany Seifert, Ashley Johnson, Tiffany Ludewig, Katelyn Johnson, and thirty-five other members from the Marshall and Tracy FFA attended the camp.

Several lessons were discussed in sessions attended by camp-goers, including how to make and attain well-planned goals, the importance of teamwork, creating personal mission statements, and Career Development Events (CDE’s). The members of each chapter were in charge of conducting a flag raising or lowering ceremony each day of camp. Teamwork was one of the main focuses of the camp and was tested during a several courses at the Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center’s Challenge Course, which included ropes courses, canoeing and archery.

There were two Minnesota State FFA Officers who attended the camp and conducted leadership training including Marjorie Schleper and Sabrina Kieser. During the leadership training, setting goals and having a vision, teamwork, importance of community service as well as service to our country were topics of discussion.
On the last night of camp, a FFA Banquet and talent show were held.  The camp officers selected from the Sleepy Eye Chapter included: Ashley Johnson, Aylin Cetinkaya, and Kacie Goblirsch. The camp proved to be fun, exciting, and educational for all who attended.  It was a great opportunity to grow as a person as well as to get to learn more about other members from Sleepy Eye and from the other chapters.
