Community And Seniors Together, a nonprofit in New Ulm MN is launching a Lifelong Learning Institute in the Fall of 2012. Several governing committee members of Community And Seniors Together Lifelong Learning Environment (CASTLE), along with CAST Program Director Kathy Austinson and CAST Board President Sally Webster, attended the statewide conference of Lifelong Learning Institutes on May 4th in Rochester to compare other programs around the state. The conference organizers were very affirming of the launch of the New Ulm CASTLE LLI. The CASTLE committee has determined that there will be three six-week terms in the coming year: Fall, Winter and Spring. Each term will begin with three courses focusing on topics such as history, art, science, literature and music, and taught by retired educators or professionals in the region.
CASTLE offers the opportunity for an adult to become a member of a community that learns for the joy of learning, without grades, tests, papers or long-term classes. This self-sustaining program will serve people without regard to previous levels of education and provide the perfect way to expand knowledge while meeting other like-minded adults. It’s college-level classes with no pre-requisites, at the membership rate of $95.00 per year. Membership provides courses, lectures, discussions and social events. To become a member or to ask the committee to present this topic to your organization or association, phone CASTLE at 507-354-3212, email atcastleLLI@newulmtel.net or on the web at http://newulmseniors.org/
