The Mt. Iron -Buhl Student council issued an apology to the Sleepy Eye girls basketball team and their fans. Those in attendance at the state girls basketball game found some of the behavior including signage and chants offensive .
“We appreciate your concern of our students behavior and we apologize for the actions that took place during the game. We sincerely hope that the unacceptable actions of those students were not taken as personal attacks to your girls basketball team, supporters, or your school. As student council members and leaders of our school we apologize for the offensive actions that took place during the game. We are truly disappointed in those students’ behavior. We thank you for showing your concern and we are taking action to prevent such behavior from happening again. Your school has a very talented team and we would like to congratulate their advancement to the 2012 Minnesota State Girls Basketball tournament and we wish them the best of luck in the future”.
