Each year, Sleepy Eye FFA Members apply for a free FFA jacket sponsored by Minnesota FFA Foundation, River Region Cooperative, and the Sleepy Eye FFA Boosters. FFA blue jackets are an important part of official dress, which is used at numerous FFA events such as CDE Competitions, banquets, camps, and conventions. Officially adopted in 1933, the blue jacket is a living legacy that started with thirty-three young people in 1928 and has now grown to over half a million students across the nation. The FFA blue jacket is an emblem of an industry that is number one in the world-American Agriculture. It is an advertisement of yourself, school, community, state and country. Sixteen FFA Members were awarded this year, who will put their jackets to good use. “Whenever I will use my jacket, not only will I represent myself, but the Sleepy Eye FFA Chapter, and I will use it in a respective way and will always remember how I got the jacket” said Stephanie Trevino, who’s jacket was donated by the Sleepy Eye FFA Boosters. “Thank you River Region Cooperative! I will wear my new FFA jacket when I attend the State Soils Competition” stated Justin Kotten.
