The Dyckman Free Library is proud to present historian Gary Wiltscheck, author of the new book “The Leavenworth Rescue Expedition Revisited”.   The author will speak at the Library, 345 Main Street, Sleepy Eye on Thursday, September 22 at 7 Pm. He will relate details of the dramatic events of August 18 and 19, 1862 along the Cottonwood River during the U.S. Dakota War. This program is made possible by a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library System and was funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage fund. It is sponsored by the Brown County Historical Society, Sleepy Eye Historical Society, Springfield Historical Society and the Public Libraries in Brown County.
