MANKATO, Minn.- Motoriststraveling in southern Minnesota may encounter brief delays beginning Aug. 31as crews install rumble stripes on area highways in Blue Earth, Brown, Cottonwood and Nobles:

·      Highway 15 – Three locations from New Ulm to theNicollet/Sibley county line

·       Highway59 – Worthingtonto the Nobles/Murray county line

·       Highway68 – Highway 15 to near Mankato

·       Highway71 – Highway 30 to Sanborn

Flaggingoperations will control traffic on two-lane highways to guide motorists throughthe work zones.  The project is expected to be completed by lateSeptember.

MnDOT places rumble stripes onhighway centerlines and edge lines as a safety and cost-saving measure. Theywarn motorists who leave the traveled lane, which prevents road-departurecrashes. The paint is much more visible in rainy and wet conditions, and thelifespan of the painted markings extends due to reduced damage from snowplows.

Motorists should drive with extremecaution through the work zones and watch for workers and equipment.
