As BBC Board member I, Deb Fischer, would love to include you in a great leadership program that serves as an opportunity to network with community members and develop leadership skills. I have lived in Brown County all my life, but it was amazing how much more I learned about all corners of my county going into this wonderful program during the 2009-2010 season. I was able to meet new people in the county for great networking opportunities for my business. I learned about our Government, Congress of Elected and Appointed Officials, County Commissioners, Local Officials and so much more. I have been on the BBC board for 5+ years, while having taking on the role of Board Chairman in year 2015. Of course you can be as involved as you wish, but getting involved has opened new doors.

I come with numerous years of experience working in the Administrative Assistant career field, qualified to do many roles. I am a licensed real estate realtor for Mages Land Co. & Auction Service LLC. working with families to find homes and farms to live, plus I enjoy clerking many auctions for Mages Land Co.

I work part time in the USDA/NRCS Sleepy Eye Field Office since end of 2012, hired through contractors:  Ultima Services Corporation, as an Administrative Assistant/Clerk. I do many roles in the office to better serve our Brown County agriculture producers.

In my leisure time, I also play bass guitar and sing in a local country western band called “The Black Diamonds” and sing in the St. Mary’s Church Ceacilian Choir.  I co-chair the “Food for Kidz” packaging event held in Sleepy Eye, MN. This year being the 13th annual to get nutritious meals of food to families & children in Brown County plus around the world.

My husband, Larry, & I have four grown children and are grandparents to four grandchildren. I live & farms 10 miles southeast of Sleepy Eye with my husband, and oldest son, David, and his wife, Jenny; all whom own Fischer Dairy Inc. We grow corn, soybeans, sweet-peas and finish-out holstein beef cattle.

I am pleased to be serving as the Chair of Bridging Brown County.  I am the VP of Business Affairs at the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce.  I have been there for 15+ years.  I oversee our Network New Ulm Leadership Program as part of my job along with several other programs.  I do the daily accounting for the Chamber, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the New Ulm Business & Retail Association as well as several smaller committees.  Outside of the Chamber, I am treasurer for the German-Bohemian Heritage Society and the MN District Goldwing Road Riders Association.  I am married to Rick.  We have 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren.

I am a 2012 graduate of the BBC Leadership Program.  Even though I have lived in Brown County most of my life, I learned a lot about my neighboring communities.  I highly recommend the program to everyone!  It’s a great opportunity to learn more about Brown County and to have another group of people to network with.
